Richard Levine

Richard Levine is a real estate investor and developer who is currently involved in projects in the U.S. and Europe. Rich was the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Belmond Ltd. from 2012 until its acquisition by LVMH in April 2019. Among the projects that he led at Belmond was the acquisition and subsequent redevelopment of Cap Juluca in Anguilla. Rich continues to work with LVMH/Belmond as a consultant. Previously, he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel for eight years at Kerzner International, a developer, owner and operator of luxury hotels and resorts under the One&Only and Atlantis brands.  

Prior to those positions with lodging companies, Rich worked in the private equity sector. He was General Counsel for Hellman & Friedman, a pre-eminent private equity fund headquartered in San Francisco. He had previously served as General Counsel for the Private Equity Division of Credit Suisse in New York where he was involved in numerous investments through the bank’s U.S, international and Russia/Ukraine funds. 

Rich began his legal career at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York and spent three years in the firm’s Tokyo office. He also worked in Tokyo, Hong Kong and New Zealand for the Associated Press after college. Rich earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
